Lin Qiong cast a glance at the fallen Fu Jinghong amidst the bushes outside the church wall.

Finally, a moment of tranquility.

He raised his head with an air of pride and leaped back into the church.

I am noble, and you don’t deserve it.

Lin Qiong bent down to retrieve the small wildflowers that had scattered on the ground, selecting a simple white-yellow blossom and pinning it to the pocket of his suit.

The white petals swayed gently in the breeze, while the green leaves and branches nestled into the fabric, creating an unexpectedly harmonious contrast with the white dress.

Lowering his head, he gazed down. His half-closed eyes framed by thick, slender lashes cast small shadows in the sunlight. Strands of hair on his forehead lightly swayed in the wind.

He never thought he’d get married one day.

Lin Qiong had spent most of his life in an orphanage, with no one close to him except for a dear friend he’d grown up with. Unexpectedly, he considered the other party a brother while the other viewed him as a villain.

Once, the other person had implored him for help, and Lin Qiong, having no other choice, became his gurantor. The other party had even patted his chest, swearing, “Don’t worry, Ah Qiong! I’ll definitely repay the money. Can your brother harm you!”

But the man’s words were empty promises. Not only did he fail to repay the money, he also used the funds to borrow from loan sharks. When the creditors came knocking, the other party had already vanished.

Upon reflection, Lin Qiong realized the other party had spoken the truth.

He had no father, no mother, and no significant background. After college, he had entered the theater industry, taking on small roles that barely earned him any money. Soon enough, the huge loans he’d taken from the sharks had drained him—such a massive sum he would never have dared to imagine. The number of zeros was more than the eggs he’d ever eaten.

You couldn’t even amass this many zeros while soaking in a vat of milk. (t/n: no idea what it means)

Self-reproach gnawed at Lin Qiong’s heart. He’d made an enormous blunder and snatched a pillow from debt collectors, finding shelter under the overpass.

Lin Qiong was a tough individual from a young age, always striving to be the best, even while sleeping on the streets.

The man next door had a blanket, while he had only a pillow. A sympathetic neighbor suggested, “It’s getting cold; bury yourself deeper in the dirt.”

Lin Qiong:…

He’d always known that his situation was far from ideal, and he’d never dared to burden friends for fear of dragging them down. Now, in his hour of need, he was even more determined to suffer alone.

He was merely a reincarnated frog.

Lonely, lonely, lonely…

As he gazed at the church door, Lin Qiong, who had been about to return, began to feel a twinge of unease.

After all, who wouldn’t be apprehensive about a villain who killed others without hesitation? If he couldn’t alter the book’s plot, going back would be tantamount to seeking his own demise.

At this moment, two inner voices began a tug-of-war within Lin Qiong’s heart, much like trying to uproot a willow.

His conscience: “If you don’t return, Fu Xingyun will suffer pitifully at the wedding.”

His Inner Skeptic: “You’ve already escaped, so there’s no reason to go back. It’s wiser to pity yourself than pity him. Who knows when your life might end.”

His conscience: “You must return. His lower body is paralyzed; how can he go through a marriage ceremony alone?”

His Inner Skeptic: “The book was left unfinished. My dear sister, please move forward courageously and don’t look back.”

His conscience: “This outfit is truly expensive!”

His Inner Skeptic:…

His conscience: “It’s worth a fortune. You’ll never own something like this in your entire life.”

His conscience: “How many zeros are we talking about here? Tens of millions, maybe even hundreds of millions… Oh my God! That’s a lot of money!”

Lin Qiong took a deep breath.

This outfit is worth wearing as a burial shroud!

Recalling the book’s plot, Fu Xingyun was not an easy character. When Lin Qiong read the novel, there were times when he paid more attention to Fu Xingyun’s segments than to the protagonist of the novel.

Perhaps it was because the villain’s sacrificial lamb bore the same name as him, but he was undoubtedly a fan.

Observing the white dress and the small white flower swaying in the wind, Lin Qiong couldn’t help but smile and ruffled his hair.

He hadn’t expected that Fu Xingyun would be getting married.

The situation was quite nerve-wracking.

Straightening his attire, he realized that Fu Xingyun had paid for this very suit, and he was the one getting married today.

Lin Qiong moved ahead and pushed open the door adorned with the holy light of Jesus. He was greeted by a one-kilometer-long aisle, adorned with white roses and expensive ribbons.

Lin Qiong:…

It seemed as though the success or failure of the wedding didn’t matter at this point.

The ceremony was about to commence, and the attendees entered the hall under the guidance of the master of ceremonies. The Fu family and the Lin family naturally occupied the seats of honor.

Fu Xingyun was no longer the high-spirited individual who had once dominated the business world. Therefore, the Fu family had ceased to take him seriously, and they’d only sent their youngest son, Fu Jinghong, to attend the wedding.

There was an empty seat beside Fu Xingyun, but he showed no concern. Half a year ago, his life had been turned upside down in a fire.

He gazed expressionlessly at the imposing, tall door before him, bearing an angel carved by Cupid with an air of love. His dark eyes resembled a still, stagnant pond.

Li Hanyang and a few friends sat in their seats in the hall. They were all brothers who’d grown up playing together with Fu Xingyun. Even though their families had tried to discourage them from associating with him, no one listened.

Even if Fu Xingyun had to beg for food one day, they would make sure he had a clean bowl.

Or else he’d end up with an upset stomach.

“I’m nervous. Do you think Lin Qiong will run away?” Ji Yao expressed her concern. She had been quite delighted upon hearing the news of Fu Xingyun’s marriage. Little did she expect to see Lin Qiong behaving like this when she arrived today.

“Don’t jump to conclusions,” Li Hanyang reassured her.

Even though Li Hanyang had said that, he felt a slight unease in his heart. But upon reflection, he chuckled at his own carelessness.

Such a grand event, Lin Qiong probably wouldn’t run away, even if he was unaware of the situation.

After consoling himself, Li Hanyang relaxed and leaned back in his chair.

It’s unclear how much time passed, but he suddenly sat up.

That mischievous figure who had been laughing and running down the corridor earlier…

It couldn’t be… Lin Qiong!

A priest came forward with a Bible, but instead of the room becoming quieter, the noise escalated.

Lin Huafeng appeared displeased and annoyed, but no one paid him any mind.

The priest looked downward and began muttering prayers.

While the priest was reciting his prayers, a waiter dashed through the crowd and rushed toward Lin Huafeng.

The waiter had a harried look, his eyes fixed solely on Lin Huafeng, with the reflection of the Mediterranean Sea in the sunlight.

For a moment, it looked like an expression of love.

The waiter arrived at Lin Huafeng’s side and reported, “Lin Qiong has run away.”

This utterance felt like a devil’s whisper, almost as powerful as an explosion in one’s home.

Lin Huafeng’s eyes, which were initially narrow, widened abruptly, almost popping out of their sockets. “What did you say?!”

His rich, deep voice was far too loud, causing many people in the auditorium to turn their attention to Lin Huafeng.

The priest also gave him a disapproving glance.

Just when the priest was about to resume his prayer…

How annoying.

Lin Huafeng instantly sealed his lips, as if ten thousand horses were racing through his mind, leaving a trail of words in its wake.

Lin Huafeng clenched his teeth, realizing that Lin Qiong wouldn’t go down without a fight.

Nonetheless, it was too late to resolve the issue. The curious guests reached out, inquiring and even stopping a waiter to question him. They never missed a chance to humiliate Fu Xingyun.

The waiter was just a regular worker and couldn’t afford to offend anyone.

“Lin Qiong has run away!!!”

The auditorium suddenly erupted with a deafening roar, as if a drop of water had fallen into a sizzling pan, creating an instant explosion.

“It was worth it! The sight here is well worth it!”

“Damn it, Fu Xingyun’s bride has run away! What kind of wedding is this?!”

“Why leave? Isn’t the wedding still ongoing? I want to see how Fu Xingyun handles this later.”

“Damn it!” Li Hanyang clenched his fists, reaching out to grab the profligate individual in front of him. Ji Yao, who was beside him, swiftly pulled him back. Their friends also rushed to restrain him.

“Han Yang, you’re going crazy!”

Li Hanyang attempted to break free from their grasp. “Who’s the crazy one? They’re spewing nonsense, even dogs have cleaner mouths!”

“Fu Xingyun! What in the world are they talking about? Fu Xingyun!”

A wastrel, whose collar was being grabbed, took the opportunity to halt Li Hanyang and continued to provoke him regardless of the consequences. “I asked what’s going on with him?”

Once he finished speaking, he noticed the person who was holding Li Hanyang slowly stepping back.

The wastrel:?

Why did you let go! ! !

For a moment, the auditorium was in complete chaos, entirely unsuitable for such a solemn occasion. The priest was the only one who continued to pray sincerely in the sacred, white auditorium.

The priest observed the tumultuous scene below, clutching the Bible tightly.

“In every person’s life, there is a glimmer of light.”

From time to time, the sound of pants, rapid and weak, could be heard in the quiet, white corridor.

Some one was quietly chanting the name of his beloved as he sprinted one kilometer..

As he traversed the thousand-meter distance, “D*mn… I can’t do it… I’m going to die…” along with an abundance of Chinese expressions.

Lin Qiong stared at the long corridor ahead and let out a sigh.

Fu Xingyun,

Daddy is coming!
