The priest continued to recite.

“What’s going on? I’m here today just to watch a joke!”

“You’re shameless!”

The priest continued with his prayer,

“Let me tell you, don’t come over here. I will hit women!”

“You despicable creature!”

The priest proceeded with the ceremonial vows,

“Keep on scolding, continue!”

“Sob…sob…”

The auditorium was in turmoil for a while, and the priest remained the only calm figure throughout the entire episode. It wasn’t a group of people isolating him; rather, it was him isolating a group of people.

The priest concluded his vows and shut the Bible.

With a resounding “bang,” the heavy book closed like a brick, and the sound was akin to a switch being flipped, gradually restoring order in the previously noisy auditorium.

After the priest finished his prayers and vows, it was time for the bride and groom to make their entrance.

Countless pairs of eyes were fixated on the door adorned with a cupid carving, except for Li Hanyang and his friends, who were swallowing hard and feeling anxious. Everyone else seemed to be there to enjoy the spectacle.

The four doormans stepped forward to open the massive door, which moved slowly and clumsily.

Fu Xingyun, standing outside, watched as the door gradually opened slightly. He was well aware of how embarrassing it was for the other party to be absent on their wedding day.

He was about to face humiliation, mockery, sarcasm, and scolding, yet his expression remained unchanged, and he didn’t even furrow his brow. It seemed like he didn’t care, but there was an undercurrent in his dark eyes.

“The bride and groom are entering!”

The emcee’s voice rang out as the door slowly opened. Fu Xingyun shifted and placed his hand on the cold wheelchair wheel.

The next moment, the wheelchair began to move forward.

Fu Xingyun:?

The man sensed something was amiss. He placed his hands on the wheelchair wheel but applied no force, yet the wheelchair moved on its own.

Before long, Fu Xingyun noticed a shadow appearing above him, and an unfamiliar heavy panting sound reached his ears.

He raised his eyes slightly and…

The next moment, he saw Lin Qiong, who was out of breath.

Fu Xingyun:…

Lin Qiong was panting heavily, with sweat covering his body and forehead from the intense run. Fu Xingyun could distinctly feel the warmth emanating from the other person’s body. It wasn’t the smell of sweat but a faint floral fragrance.

As soon as Lin Qiong lowered his head, he met Fu Xingyun’s dark and inscrutable gaze, and his body, which had been warm, instantly turned cold.

Fu Xingyun observed him closely. He had known Lin Qiong’s personality from the beginning, so it wasn’t surprising that he ran away from the wedding. What left him bewildered was Lin Qiong’s return.

Fu Xingyun’s eyes dimmed, and he couldn’t say that he was pleased. He didn’t have any emotional response to the return of the other person to the wedding. He was simply unable to figure out Lin Qiong for the time being.

Lin Qiong felt uncomfortable under the villain’s hostile gaze, as if he were pinned in place.

He looked at Fu Xingyun and scratched the back of his head. “Um, don’t mind my lateness.”

He then forced an awkward smile and added, “I have no experience since it’s my first time getting married. I’ll do better next time.”

Fu Xingyun: “Didn’t you run away from the wedding?”

The man’s words caused Lin Qiong’s forced smile to freeze instantly.

It felt as though he had been seen through.

“Nonsense!” Lin Qiong feigned composure. “How could I run away from our wedding when I love you so much? I won’t allow you to insult our love like this.”

With a half-hearted explanation, he pushed the small wildflower he had been holding into Fu Xingyun’s arms.

“I went to pick a bouquet or you.”

Fu Xingyun looked at the handful of small wildflowers and then back at Lin Qiong.

Lin Qiong consoled himself, “What others have at their weddings, we can have too.”

Fu Xingyun:…

Seeing that the newlyweds hadn’t entered the venue, the emcee once again reminded, “The newlyweds are about to enter.”

Still breathless, Lin Qiong said, “We are here!”

His voice was quite feeble. All the energy he had earlier was expended on the display of quintessence. He didn’t know if the emcee heard him, but if he had known, he would’ve used fewer words a moment ago.

Lin Qiong straightened his chest, raised his head slightly, and with a great show of vigor, pushed Fu Xingyun forward.

One second… two seconds… ten seconds…

Fu Xingyun noted the change in distance between the wheelchair and its previous position; it had only moved about half a meter.

“…” Fu Xingyun: “I’ll push it myself.”

“No!”

Fu Xingyun looked up at Lin Qiong, who instantly transformed into a docile little lamb. “On this special day, just sit tight. I’ll take care of the moving.”

The implication was that he would take Fu Xingyun along with him.

Fu Xingyun:…

At first, there didn’t seem to be anything wrong with this arrangement, but the more he thought about it, the more peculiar it seemed.

Lin Qiong had been running for miles all morning, and now his legs were trembling slightly. If it weren’t for Fu Xingyun’s wheelchair providing support, Lin Qiong was confident that he’d be sprawled under Fu Xingyun’s trouser legs in the next second.

How could he let that happen?

What a mortifying situation!

When the newlyweds had not made their entrance, the auditorium, which was previously hushed, gradually grew noisy.

“Lin Qiong really ran away!”

“Fu Xingyun feels too embarrassed and doesn’t want to come out.”

“Fu Xingyun, are you still coming in? If you have trouble moving your wheelchair, your daddy, I, can push you!”

Laughter filled the room at these jests, and the absence of the door acted as little more than a sieve, letting these remarks reach those standing outside.

Frowning slightly, Lin Qiong instinctively acted to cover Fu Xingyun’s ears.

“Don’t listen to their nonsense.”

Lin Qiong’s voice reached him, but it sounded muffled due to his ears being covered.

A sense of relief washed over him as if a savior had appeared. If Fu Xingyun heard the taunts, he might never live it down.

The priest knocked on the table. When the ruckus subsided, Lin Qiong, with his legs almost trembling, gently pushed Fu Xingyun toward the auditorium.

Ji Yao couldn’t bear to watch. “No, I can’t bear to watch. If Xingyun comes out alone, tell me, I won’t watch.”

She didn’t want to see Fu Xingyun humiliated like this. It was hard for her to stomach the thought.

“What’s going on?”

“Who’s at the door?”

A chorus of exclamations surrounded him. Ji Yao covered her eyes and avoided watching, but the surrounding sounds made her curious.

She extended a finger and poked Li Hanyang. “Why didn’t you update me?”

Li Hanyang replied, “Fu Xingyun isn’t alone. Why would I update you?”

“?” Ji Yao asked, “You mean he’s only half there?”

Li Hanyang: “…”

Ji Yao suddenly raised her head and gazed toward the entrance. What she saw was beyond belief.

Fu Xingyun, in his wheelchair, was sitting calmly, holding a handful of colorful flowers with an expressionless face.

The person pushing the wheelchair from behind was Lin Qiong, the same Lin Qiong who was said to have fled from the wedding.

What on earth was happening?

Did Lin Qiong not run away?

Perhaps many others had the same question, but Lin Qiong’s appearance served as an unequivocal answer to their doubts.

The two of them progressed at a snail’s pace. Perhaps unintentionally, they seemed to be saying, “Keep your eyes wide open, for here we come!”

Lin Qiong hadn’t intended that, but his legs were weak, and he couldn’t walk quickly.

Glancing around, he noted the disarray in the auditorium. It was as if a catastrophic third world war had erupted in this place.

Naturally, those attending Fu Xingyun’s wedding were well-known figures. One might have expected them to be well-dressed and composed, but what met the eye was quite the opposite. Ties were askew, buttons were missing, and there was even an unclaimed shoe lying nearby.

“…” Lin Qiong thought to himself that he didn’t quite understand the world of the rich.

Once the two had entered the auditorium, the commotion subsided. After what felt like an eternity, Lin Qiong managed to push Fu Xingyun to the podium.

They took their positions and he stood to the side. Without the support of Fu Xingyun’s wheelchair, Lin Qiong’s legs wobbled ever so slightly.

He accepted the gilded paper from the priest bearing their wedding vows.

Fu Xingyun lowered his gaze and skimmed the words: trust…loyalty…equality…

The rustle of clothing caught his attention, and as he looked up, he saw Lin Qiong bending slightly, bringing himself to eye level with him.

Fu Xingyun’s fingers tightened ever so slightly around the paper.

Sensing his gaze, Lin Qiong offered a shy smile.

Fu Xingyun:…silently looked away.

As Lin Qiong steadied his trembling legs, he lowered himself to ensure that everything went smoothly during this peculiar wedding. With his professional acting skills and a pair of eyes filled with affection, he nearly succeeded in saving face for both of them on this unusual day.

One by one, they exchanged their vows, and the ring bearer approached from a distance with the rings.

The priest went through the customary questions for both parties.

Fu Xingyun’s voice was firm, “I do.”

Lin Qiong was initially hesitant, but gasped upon seeing the pigeon eggs nestled in the red velvet box.

“I do.”

The wedding proceeded without a hitch, much smoother than Fu Xingyun had expected.

As Fu Xingyun observed Lin Qiong gazing at the ring before him, with an expression of pure joy and wonder, he narrowed his eyes.

The ease of the wedding caught both Li Hanyang and Ji Yao by surprise. They breathed sighs of relief almost simultaneously.

“I never expected Lin Qiong to come back.”

Ji Yao adjusted her hair, which had become disheveled after the hair-pulling incident. Looking at the joyous couple on the stage, she pondered, “Maybe Lin Qiong never intended to run away from the beginning?”

Li Hanyang glanced at her upon hearing this.

“Did you forget how Lin Qiong used to taunt Xingyun for his disability? What changed after that?”

“Didn’t he say he wouldn’t mind it later?”

“He just didn’t want to get beaten.”

“…” Ji Yao: “Then why is he smiling so happily?”

Li Hanyang looked ahead, catching sight of Lin Qiong standing beside Fu Xingyun, beaming like a radiant sunflower.

He seemed neither reluctant nor coerced. In fact, he appeared overwhelmingly willing to be part of this union.

But wasn’t Lin Qiong the one who left earlier?

Lin Qiong remained oblivious to the perception that others held of him.

They exchanged rings and completed the ceremony.

Pigeon eggs, love you~

T/n: Obviously the pigeon eggs here refers to the egg-sized diamond ring, LOL/
